On August 5th, 2013, Harborcreek Township dedicated its Shades Beach Launch Facility to Lt. Raymond J. Krupinski a 1966 Harbor Creek graduate. His platoon was hit hard by North Vietnamese soldiers. In the process of rescuing one of his men, he laid his life on the line and was killed. The account of Lt. Krupinski’s final acts was told by one of his men serving under him. His “calm courage even in the face of death”, as one of his men called it, was never forgotten by his platoon.
